“Jesus said to be the Alpha and Omega, God said to be the Alpha
and the Omega, therefore Jesus is God!”
Christ said in Rev. 22:13
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”
Is this a proof that Christ is God? Let us see.
The meaning of “Alpha” and “Omega” (these are letters of the Greek alphabet) is simply “First” and “Last”. When Christ said that He is Alpha and Omega, the First and Last, the Scriptures made a distinction between God and Christ who are both First and Last—but of different category…
“God the Father , who is the source of all things…” (I Cor. 8:6) is of course “Alpha” or “First” “…when all things have been put under him, the Son himself will also come under him who has put all things under Him, in order that God may be all in all.” (I Cor. 15:28 The new testament in modern speech, Weymouth ) clearly shows that God is “Omega” or “Last” because all, including the Son, Christ, will be subjected unto God, so that God may be all in all.
But what about Christ? Why is he also first and last?
Christ is First because he is the “firstborn of every creature”, not because he was created first, but the plan and purpose to create Christ was first and foremost in God’s mind. (I pet. 1:20; Romans 1:2-3) We also should take not what Apostle Paul says: “Christ is the visible representation of the invisible God…” Therefore,
Christ (the visible representation) is a creature (the firstborn) of God (the invisible).
Christ, again, is “the firstborn of all creation” is not the Creator and therefore not God. Christ is to judge the world in his second coming will Himself be subjected to God (the source of all things and therefore First) so that God will be all in all (and therefore Last) (II Tim. 4:1; I Cor. 15:27-28)
“The trinity is a wonderful mystery. No one understands it. The most learned theologian, the holiest Pope, the greatest saint, all are as mystified by it as the child of seven. It is one of the things which we shall know only when we see God face to face.” (God and Myself: An Inquiry into the true religion, Martin J. Scott, p.118)
If the trinity is so mysterious and no one understands even theologians, POPES, and whatsoever, how could a MAN on the street understand it? Tsk. Tsk. There are people who defend their doctrines but doesnt really understands what their faith is. Like here in our country, it is claimed to be 90-98% of the population is of the dominant religion, QUESTION: Do they practice their faith? Another, DO THEY UNDERSTAND THE TEACHINGS OF THEIR CHURCH?
Hmmmm... Just observe the environment!!^_^

Alpha and the Omega
ReplyDeleteThe Beginning and the End
The First and the Last
This has something to do with Eternalness. There is only God and his creation. God is eternal (no beginning or end) and his creation has a beginning and can have an end. There is already God before the beginning of everything and there would still be God even after the end of all things. So it is proper to say that God is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last. Nobody can claim this title but only God. Jesus claims this title because he is one God with the Father.
Isaiah 44:6
New King James Version (NKJV)
6 “Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel,
And his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts:
‘I am the First and I am the Last;
Besides Me there is no God.
1) Yahweh, the King of Israel is the Father
And
2) his Redeemer, Yahweh of hosts is the Son
3) two persons speaking as one God saying "I am the First and I am the Last"
I know you guys believed that God is eternal, all knowing, ever present etc. Now, explain to me: how could God have no beginning or end? Do you fully understand? How could God know all things? Do you fully understand? How could God be in all places at all times? Do you fully understand? If you cannot fully explain and you cannot fully understand, then why do you believe them?
I strongly agree with you sir jeffrey...we have one God. HIS named is JESUS...
DeleteIf I may understand you correctly, you have two meanings for the Alpha and Omega (one for Jesus and the other for God). Then you go with your supporting verses that the created Jesus (first and last) is subjective to God (first and last) because he is the “firstborn of every creature”. I would not address about the First and Last since somebody had already made good points on the matter. I would try to give my reasons why I disagree with you about the "firstborn" (created being). The word firstborn "prototokos" in greek have two different meaning;
ReplyDelete1) it could be understand in a chronological sense that means the order of birth (Exodus 13:15).
2) it could be understand in a positional sense that means one who has the honor and rights of the firstborn son (Colossians 1:15-18). The firstborn in this passage is about position because if Paul had meant the chronological sense, he would have probably used a different preposition. Instead of saying, “in him” or “by means of him,” he could have said, “after him,” “after him all things were created.” But Paul says “by means of him all things were created”. That means Jesus is the Creator of the universe – a position. I do hope this made sense to you and come to faith in Jesus (not created by God but the second person of the trinity) as God (Alpha and Omega). God bless you.
“I am the LORD, your savior; I am the one who created you. I am the LORD, the Creator of all things. I alone stretched out the heavens; when I made the earth, no one helped me...The words of the wise I refute and show that their wisdom is foolishness.” (Isaiah p44:24-25 TEV)
