"The publication of the criminal manuscript will trigger social unrest," he said. "Millions of people may come out in the streets and this may lead to violence." The book contains allegations based on hearsay and insinuations against the INC that could trigger protest among millions of church members nationwide,"

Isa ba itong pagkitil sa FREEDOM OF SPEECH?

New Philippine Arena pushes boundaries of Arena Design 2

Situated on a green field site north of Manila, the Arena is of a scale not previously seen before in the
Philippines. It has been master planned to enable 50,000 people to gather inside the building and a
further 50,000 to gather at a “live site” outside the arena, to share in major events. It will not only
hold major church gatherings, it will also operate as a multi-use sports and concert venue, capable of
holding a range of events from boxing and basketball to live music performances. The overall vision of the masterplan will eventually see inclusion of shopping centres, a hospital and large scale
residential developments.

DESIGN CHALLENGES PRESENTED BY THE SCALE OF THE ARENA:

The one- sided 50,000 seating bowl focuses at a central arena floor. The bowl is split into two main
tiers, a lower tier and an upper tier, both seating approximately 25,000 people.

The scale of the building is so vast it created a series of technical difficulties not previously seen
before in the Philippines according to project architect Ron Van Sluijs.

“It is difficult to have 50,000 people with one focal point, and give everyone a good view as well as a
sense of atmosphere and inclusion. The bowl shape helps achieve this. It is a very tight compact
structure, but it is also gracious, with its saddle bowl form, high in the centre and dropping down at
the flanks. Strategically placed video boards also help create atmosphere and enabling people to view
all the action.”

Another challenge was to ensure the arena never felt empty, and retained its sense of intimacy. The
lower bowl will be the most frequently used part of the building and the design allows for easy
separation of the lower tier from the upper tier by the use of a curtain hung from the roof soffit, with
both acoustic and thermal properties. However, during a major religious festival or celebration, the
upper bowl can be opened up and fully utilised.

A series of precast vomitories, set at regular intervals around the bowl, provide access from the outer
concourses onto the seating tiers. There are clear sightlines from every seat on each tier, even for
various arena configurations such as church ceremonies, boxing, tennis, concerts or indoor
gymnastics.

Even so, in normal operational mode of 25,000 people, it is still a very large crowd for an indoor
arena, especially as space has been allowed for a 2,000 person choir to be seated behind the stage
area opposite the main seating bowl. This meant major changing rooms for a start. The solution here
has been to design changing rooms that can be built in modules, allowing the capacity of the change
rooms to change to suit the required needs.

Circulation issues become an even bigger challenge when the arena is at capacity, to make certain
such a large number of people arrive at the main entrance, and move to their seats simply, quickly
and safely, avoiding a build up of huge crowds at the front door. The solution has been to separate
people immediately as they enter the front door into a split lower concourse through the use of
signage. The separation zone is utilised as the food and beverage area. People moving to the Upper
Tier are directed into Zone 1, where they travel via staircases to the upper concourse; those seated in
the Lower Tier are directed into Zone 2.

Consideration also had to be given to make certain the arena was comfortable. 50,000 people in a
fully enclosed building is a large crowd, and combined with Manila’s humid , tropical climate meant
that special measures had to be undertaken to ensure the arena was adequately ventilated. The
arena is fully air-conditioned, and the required plant space had major effect on the floor planning.

A further challenge was to design a roof spanning over 150 meters, across such a large tier structure.
This meant solving the issue of how to construct such a large structure in a country with little
construction experience in building large span roofs. The solution was to bring in outside specialist
expertise in large scale construction through the Korean construction company Hanwha Engineering
and Construction, as well as embarking on a local education programme.

An additional major design issue was the highly seismic location of the site. The size, the weight and
the height of the venue meant extraordinary engineering measures had to be introduced to ensure
make the arena earthquake proof. These included introducing seismic dissipaters (rubber shock
absorbers) at the first level to dampen the seismic acceleration, and building a large number of shear
walls to transfer the horizontal loading

ARENA DESIGN:

The arena itself is comprised of a number of interrelated elements. The first is the building’s podium
– a plinth which raises the building, ensuring the building’s curvaceous form can be seen from afar.

The second element is the lower foyer. This light, open concourse welcomes arena visitors and
creates a seamless flow between the building and its surroundings.

The third, and one of the most prominent architectural elements, is the central band of louvers
encircling the exterior of the arena’s primary elevation. These vibrant louvers provide both character
and a pragmatic solution as a translucent ventilating veil around the façade.

The arena’s fourth element is the significant yet delicately detailed steel structure which supports
the upper bowl and roof. While these structural elements may be impressive in size, the articulation
and curbed repetition of the triangulated props create delicate filigree – crowning the arena building
and complimenting the band of louvers below.

The arena’s floating shell-like roof completes the architecture. It’s sharply articulated edges and
supple form creates a strong and immediately identifiable silhouette for the building.

AN ADAPTABLE SPACE:

Three areas of temporary or retractable seating have been incorporated into the bowl design. The
first is 2000 seats of retractable seating behind the ‘stage’ which folds into itself and stores away in a
floor pit. The tier itself can be adjusted in height to optimise sightlines for various usages of the arena
floor. The second area is up to 1500 loose seating, which can be accommodated on the main arena
floor in front of a stage setting. Thirdly, two sections of retractable seating are located in the lower
tier corners. In retracted mode, the gained area allows for a larger field of play.

ARENA PLANNING:

The arena rises up four levels.

Level 1 has the stage floor, including the back of house performer dress rooms. Level 2 is the main
access level for the general public. Level 3 is an intermediate VIP level. It is limited to a section in the middle of the building however can be expanded in the future. This level can be accessed from the VIP lobby in the basement or at the main entry on level 2 by dedicated VIP lifts. It has suites facing the auditorium and multipurpose conference rooms facing the main plaza. The central lobby at level 3 can be used as a memorial space. Level 4 is the upper concourse and provides access to the upper bowl through various vomitories.

A LAYERED FACADE:

All but the eastern façade of the arena are very open. The façade allows for natural ventilation deep
into the building and views out onto the site from the main circulation concourses, while maintaining
a clear demarcation around the building perimeter. The objectives are achieved with a metallic
perforated louvered screen hung from the slab edges. The screen aligns with the concourses, raps
around the vertical circulation and its density is reduced towards the rear of the building. Colour on
the screens provides added interest and warmth.

Centrally located above the main entry of the plaza, and in between the louvered screens, is a glazed
screen. This glazed screen works as a marker over the main entry and allows uninterrupted views
from the VIP level over the main plaza in front of the building. It consist of staggered toughened glass panes fixed in position by standardised brackets fixed of an elegant steel frame forming a three
dimensional effect.

The overhanging roof edge over the façade is intended to provide an ending to the roof cladding and
a crisp, sharp and flush metallic edged returning down to the back of the bowl.

The venue at Ciudad de Victoria will be the world’s largest indoor arena. It has a construction value of AUD $200M, and has been commissioned by Iglesia Ni Cristo (the Church of Christ) to be completed in time for the Church’s Centennial Celebration in 2014. Populous has designed the arena with engineers Buro Happold and construction will be carried out by Hanwha Engineering and Construction Corp.

Church News: October 2012

http://philadelphianeighborhoods.com/files/2012/09/fal1220wynnefieldcleanup2-300x225.jpg
The Overbrook Park Civic Association orchestrated a Saturday community cleanup event in late September continuing its efforts to beautify the Rose Playground and the surrounding area.

Angela Hall-Morris, treasurer of the Overbrook Park Civic Association, organized this beautification event for this organization founded more than 30 years ago that now has more than 200 members.

“The purpose of the Overbrook Park Civic Association is to gather all the people that live in Overbrook Park so we can unify the neighborhood and beautify the neighborhood, provide resources for the people in the neighborhood and to make Overbrook Park a wonderful place to live,” Hall-Morris said.
The beautification event got off to a slow start with just Hall-Morris and a few other volunteers in gardening gloves picking up trash and scattered leaves in a mostly empty playground. But before long more help arrived.

Shortly after 9 that morning members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo Church Giving Project arrived willing to help. They even brought their own film crew to document the event and encourage other similar projects.

Members of this church, coming from locations as far as New York and Delaware, take pride in assisting neighborhood groups to renovate and clean parks and playgrounds. The Giving Project group was founded in 2011 and it’s self-proclaimed mission, according to the group’s Facebook page, aims to “extend the presence of the Iglesia Ni Cristo members to its community partners by supporting their efforts to provide solutions to help families succeed and achieve.”

Joy Bandolon, a Giving Project member and Aston, Pa resident, said, “We get in touch with different community organizations to reach out, and we try our very best to share and help. It’s our way of sharing our faith because that’s what Christians do, we help out.”

After the church members arrived volunteers began tasks like removing weeds that had overgrown playground equipment and signs around the park. Working mostly in pairs or small groups church members swept and raked leaves from the playing field and basketball courts. They also used a leaf blower to clear debris from pedestrian walkways.

Additional volunteers arrived later in the morning to help. Two yellow school buses parked outside the playground, located at 1300 N. 75th St. On board were students from Villanova University who strolled off carrying refreshments and bottled water for their fellow volunteers.

These students continued with the theme of giving back to the community.

“We need to remember that not every place is as fortunate as we are. Villanova has a really pretty campus but we need to make sure other places can have the opportunity to look beautiful as well,” Villanova freshman Chrissy Conners said.

Cleanup organizer Hall-Morris took charge once all volunteers arrived on the scene. She began corralling volunteers into groups assigning specific tasks: cutting branches off of trees extending into nearby streets, uprooting old, withering plants and replacing them with new ones. Students and other volunteers planted nearly a dozen new trees on the grounds. Soon, children filled the now clean jungle gym area. Hall-Morris, with an ever-present smile on her face, even sent a group of workers to other locations in the area to provide extra help to the community.

Approximately four hundred volunteers participated in this event. For Hall-Morris benefits from the cleanup radiate far beyond the playground. One benefit Civic Association members relish is positive impacts on property values resulting from inspiring neighbors to take more pride in maintaining their homes.

Property values in the 19151 ZIP code where the Civic Association conducts business were nearly equal with those for the city as a whole according to the 2010 data released by the U.S. Census Bureau. Nearly 4,000 out of the 83,000 homes in the area had property values of more than $80,000. That number comes out to approximately 47 percent. Citywide homes valued at over $80,000 was just over 50 percent. Approximately 12 percent of homes in the 19151 zip-code had a value between $100,000 and $125,000 compared to the city’s total percentage is less than ten percent.

The Civic Association considers its hard work as having had an effect in keeping property values in the community consistent with city averages.

“We work hard to assist residents in maintaining a clean environment, safe streets and obtaining resources to ensure residents are able to reside in an attractive home,” Association President Farida Saleem said. “This helps maintain the values of our properties.”

The cleanup provided satisfaction to Association members and volunteers alike. As volunteer Frank Bandolon said, “we experience a great feeling giving back to the community.”

Iglesia Ni Cristo purchased the industrial property located at 7100 42nd St. S in Seattle, WA for $
4.3 million, or about $176 per square foot. The building was used by Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ for religious and community events for more than ten years.

The 24,472-square-foot property was constructed in 1968. The site was reported to have oil contamination issues, which lead to a lengthy negotiation process, but it turns out the issue had been resolved by the previous owner and was not reflected on record.

Iglesia Ni Cristo plans to renovate the space; they are currently waiting on the permits from the county. The space will serve as its new headquarters location for the Washington region.

The wonder that is the Iglesia

by ARMAN P. TOGA, FREELANCER NEGROS OPINION

On July 27, 2014, the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) will celebrate its 100th Year.

The church under a dynamic leadership continues to amaze. Despite its worldwide presence, only the dialects and languages used in its teachings vary but its doctrines, beliefs and rules based on the Bible remain the same since it was founded in 1914 in the Philippines.

The INC can be considered as one of the wonders of the Philippines - if not of the world,if one can have a chance to trace its beginnings and its rapid growth that are both subjects of research works by many institutions.

One way to really appreciate its history is when one takes a tour of the INC’s museum at its Central Temple in Diliman, Quezon City.

It cannot be denied that many elected government officials and aspirants to elective posts are always hoping for the support of the INC.

They take time to write the INC leadership, attend church activities and services, and visit INC leaders.

This is because the INC’s unity is especially visible during elections.

The unity in voting for certain candidates is just one example how church leaders and members of the INC adhere to the teaching to decide as one.

INC leaders always emphasize that it is not to rob members of their freedom to choose, the same way God’s and Jesus Christ’s will are to be followed without question.

Instead of declaring the 100th year of the INC on July 27, 2014 as a national holiday, why not declare every July 27 a non-working holiday?

I know many from various faiths will not agree — as they did before the Ramadan holiday was signed into law— but even just seeing the INC church as one of the wonders of the country can be enough reason to significantly mark its founding anniversary.

If other religions came from abroad to the country, here is the INC emanating from the Philippines to the entire world.

"The two words may be used interchangeably. However, there are slight differences in meaning between the two and it mostly has to do with the type of event being presented. In the United States and elsewhere, a stadium refers to a large, usually outdoor structure consisting of a playing field or stage partially or completely enclosed by tiers of seats where spectators may sit and watch. Hence, a stadium is usually designed for outdoor sports such as association football (soccer), American football, cricket, baseball, and stock car racing. An arena, on the other hand, is usually designed for indoor sports such as basketball, ice hockey, volleyball, wrestling, and rodeo. Both a stadium and an arena are almost identical in design and construction except that a stadium is usually for outdoor sports and an arena is usually for indoor sports." source: wiki.answers.com

hindi ka kasi nakakaintindi, all of them are part of a generic STADIUM, ang DOME versus STADIUM versus ARENA mo ay nasa iisang kategorya of being a STADIUM, meaning all sporting events are there to be accomodated.

Salt Lake Tabernacle is a religious DOME, hindi SPORTS dome. in the generic sense, it can be a stadium but it will not follow the point sa development ng ENGLISH LANGUAGE kaya ito ay napapabilang sa religious dome, hindi SPORTS DOME. kaya nagamit ang terminong DOME sa religious cycle ay dahil sa CONSTRUCTION nito o design, HINDI sa PURPOSE.

File:StPetersDomePD.jpg
DOME of St. Peter's basilica

File:Dome of the Rock Temple Mount.jpg
DOME of the rock in Jerusalem

File:Taj Mahal 2012.jpg
 DOME of Taj Mahal

ARENA para maging structure na may LARGEST DOME in the world, kundi para maging LARGEST domed ARENA in the world. Gets?

LARGEST DOMED structure
LARGEST DOMED ARENA
LARGEST DOMED STADIUM (covered/retractable roof)

Stadium- "A modern stadium (plural stadiums/stadia) is a place or venue for (mostly) outdoor sports, concerts, or other events and consists of a field or stage either partly or completely surrounded by a structure designed to allow spectators to stand or sit and view the event."

Domed Stadium (Stadium with roofs/retractable roofs)- "Domed stadiums are distinguished from conventional stadiums by their enclosing roofs..." "...Even though enclosed, dome stadiums are called stadiums because they are large enough for, and designed for, what are generally considered to be outdoor sports such as athletics, American football, soccer, rugby and baseball. Those designed for what are usually indoor sports like basketball, ice hockey and volleyball are generally called arenas."

Arena- "An arena is an enclosed area, often circular or oval-shaped, designed to showcase theater, musical performances, or sporting events..." "...Football (be it association, rugby, or gridiron) is typically played in a stadium while basketball and ice hockey are typically played in an arena, although many of the larger arenas hold more spectators than do the stadiums of smaller colleges or high schools."

Pangatlo, ayon kasi kay Catholicdefender2000 at Mr. Abe, hindi na raw magiging BIGGEST DOME in the world ang Philippine Arena, in the first place naman, hindi naman kami dun sa category ng BIGGEST/LARGEST DOME STRUCTURE kundi sa LARGEST DOMED ARENA/LARGEST ARENA, iququote ko sinabi nila:

Mr. Abe said: "BIGGEST DOME/ARENA IN THE WORLD BELONGS TO SINGAPORE NOT TO THE MANALOS"

Catholicdefender2000 said: "World's Biggest Dome is not anymore the Iglesia ni Cristo Arena. With its short-lived jubilation, the Iglesia ni Cristo's "Philippine Arena" is NOT anymore the biggest dome in the world."

"Named the Philippine Arena, the soon-to-be world’s biggest dome-arena was inaugurated last August 17, 2011 at Ciudad de Victoria, Bocaue, Bulacan." source: bulacan.gov.ph

"The contract value of the project is placed at US$175 million, and work will be carried out over 30 months, Korea Herald said, adding that with its size, Hanwha E&C considers the structure, named Philippine Arena, to be the world’s largest domed arena." source: thefilipinoaustralian.com

sources: wikipedia1, wikipedia2

Kahit anong structure basta may DOME, which means: "A vaulted roof having a circular, polygonal, or elliptical base and a generally hemispherical or semispherical shape." galing yan mismo sa source mo^^ Ang Salt Lake tabernacle ba ay isang stadium? eh Arena kaya? eh bakit nasa category siya ng DOME?

ARENA).

2000 kapatid sa New Bilibid Prison, bad news o good news?

Richard Swarchok at Fr. Robert Ulager.

 • There are 32,000 inmates in NBP in Muntinlupa: 2,000 of them are INC members. This means that 16% of convicted criminals in Bilibid prison are Iglesia Ni Cristo members.

• There are 1,000 jails across the Philippines, more than 60,000 inmates. We can only guess how many Iglesia Ni Cristo criminal members are inside and outside the prison jail.

(source: nscb.gov.ph)

BAD NEWS ba ito o GOOD NEWS?

Syempre GOOD NEWS!

Ano ba ang current LARGEST DOMED STRUCTURE in the world?

Ano ba ang current LARGEST STADIUM in the world?

Ano naman kaya ang current LARGEST DOMED ARENA in the world?
