"Ipaglaban mo nang puspusan ang pananampalataya. Panghawakan mong mabuti ang buhay na walang hanggan, dahil diyan ka tinawag ng Diyos nang ipahayag mo sa harap ng maraming saksi ang iyong pananalig kay Cristo." I Tim. 6:12

GIVING: "Neighborhood Appreciation Day"

The INC local congregations abroad launches an event called Neighborhood Appreciation Day.

"Neighborhood Appreciation Day" allowed the neighborhood to get to know the INC and its people. It taught the members how to interact and mingle with people in the community, instead of being confined within the walls of the chapel grounds. And more importantly, it gave the neighbors the chance to see inside our houses of worship and that our doors are always open to them for worship and prayer.

Services offered: Blood sugar (diabetes) screening, blood pressure check, eye health, free glasses, foot exam, dental assessment, massage, photo studio, free food, kids arts and crafts, musical entertainment, chapel tours, job hunting/resume writing.

The local congregations conducted this event were: the new houses of worship of Los Angeles, California (525 people benefited); Sacramento, California (250 people benefited); Bloomingdale, Illinois; Forth Worth, Texas and along with Scarborough, Canada; Temple Hills, Maryland; Honolulu, Hawaii; Jacksonville, Florida(225 people benefited); Norwich, Connecticut.

I will quote what Toronto, Canada City counsilor Ward Glenn Debarermaeker who attended the event:

"I think what excited me about today's event was the fact the church opened up it's doors literally to the entire community. So it was come one, come all, come and learn about our church, we want you to know that youre welcome to come into our place to worship and i thought that was a really great thing because the world needs more peace and serenity and i think there are some churches that would say, great we have a beautiful church, we have a beautiful congregation, and that's great and that's the end of it. I think this church is literally opening itself to lots of people who have many questions, who might be curious, and who might be looking for a place to worship. I think this is wonderful. "

This event were even attracted broadcast and print media attention and were featured in local tv newscasts and newspapers in different parts of the United States and Canada.

"Teacher Appreciation Day"

"Teacher Appreciation Day" had an impact that no one could have ever imagined. Teachers were overwhelmed by the gratitude and honor given to them. CWS kids were ecstatic to know that they, too, can have a huge part in missionary work, no matter their age. Tears were shed and hearts melted as teachers and parents listened to the personal tribute messages that young kids gave to their educators. The seed was planted in the hearts of teachers and they will always remember the Church who took the time to honor them and let them know how much they are respected and appreciated.

It is said to be a part of the INC GIVING and said to be conducted in local congregations worldwide. One of the events happened in a local congregation abroad:

We had 26 teachers who came by and the children were able to show their appreciation to their teachers through a short program and reception We also gave away free school supplies! This activity was not set up just for our area, but in different local congregations of the Iglesia Ni Cristo throughout the nation!! This is just one of several I.N.C. Giving Projects that are lined up for the rest of the year.

Since we had filled up more than 26 Target Bags with school supplies, we started to give out two bags per teacher! Did you know that a ream of copy paper is like gold to a teacher?? The teachers were really touched by what we did that one of the teacher’s told her student, “You belong to a wonderful church!” and that she was really touched and thankful by what we did for them.

The following day, we had our local biking activity. We had a great turn out too with approximately 50 brethren who showed up early Saturday morning to bike from Shoreline Village to Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier (over 3 miles one way). It was so windy biking towards the pier, I didn’t think the group would make it there, but they proved me wrong!! Majority of them actually made it to the pier and I was so happy to see them there!! Here’s a group picture of those who made it.

Also, before I forget, here’s a group picture of our Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ) team during the Revlon Run/Walk that happened two weeks ago! Halle Berry was there and she was the one who announced our team’s name!! She now knows of our church! :)
