The verses above were the alleged “proofs” of others to prove that Jesus is God only because made miracles. I got those verses in a catholic website entitled "JESUS MIRACLES TESTIFY THAT HE IS GOD"
Were Christ's miracles a big EVIDENCE that he is god?
Well, lets find it out...
But wait, let us know first who are those people who made some miracles also:
Apostle peter
- But Peter sent them all out and knelt down and prayed, and turning to the body, he said, " Tabitha, arise." And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up. And he gave her his hand and raised her up; and calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive. It became known all over Joppa, and many believed in the Lord. acts 9:40-42
- Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the ninth hour, the hour of prayer. And a man who had been lame from his mother's womb was being carried along, whom they used to set down every day at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, in order to beg alms of those who were entering the temple. When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he began asking to receive alms. But Peter, along with John, fixed his gaze on him and said, "Look at us!" And he began to give them his attention, expecting to receive something from them. But Peter said, "I do not possess silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene--walk!" And seizing him by the right hand, he raised him up; and immediately his feet and his ankles were strengthened. With a leap he stood upright and began to walk; and he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. acts 3:1-8
Apostle Paul
- And there was a young man named Eutychus sitting on the window sill, sinking into a deep sleep; and as Paul kept on talking, he was overcome by sleep and fell down from the third floor and was picked up dead. But Paul went down and fell upon him, and after embracing him, he said, "Do not be troubled, for his life is in him." When he had gone back up and had broken the bread and eaten, he talked with them a long while until daybreak, and then left. They took away the boy alive, and were greatly comforted. acts 20:9-12
- God was performing extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, so that handkerchiefs or aprons were even carried from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out. acts 19:11-12
Elijah
- Now it came about after these things that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, became sick; and his sickness was so severe that there was no breath left in him. So she said to Elijah, "What do I have to do with you, O man of God? You have come to me to bring my iniquity to remembrance and to put my son to death!" He said to her, "Give me your son." Then he took him from her bosom and carried him up to the upper room where he was living, and laid him on his own bed. He called to the LORD and said, "O LORD my God, have You also brought calamity to the widow with whom I am staying, by causing her son to die?" Then he stretched himself upon the child three times, and called to the LORD and said, "O LORD my God, I pray You, let this child's life return to him. "The LORD heard the voice of Elijah, and the life of the child returned to him and he revived. Elijah took the child and brought him down from the upper room into the house and gave him to his mother; and Elijah said, "See, your son is alive." I kings 17:17-23
Who else?
There is Bernabe, Moses, Elisha and etc.
If others believe that Jesus is God only because he made some miracles, how about those people also MADE MIRACLES? Are we ready to accept that these people are also Gods?
You know, we should notice that before they make some miracles, they pray to God first, and in that case, we will learn that power was from God and not of them.
Let’s read john 11:41-44, a scenario when Christ does a miracle:
“So they removed the stone then Jesus raised His eyes, and said, "Father, I thank you that you have heard me.”I knew that you always hear me; but because of the people standing around I said it, so that they may believe that you sent me."
When He had said these things, He cried out with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come forth." The man who had died came forth, bound hand and foot with wrappings, and his face was wrapped around with a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Unbind him, and let him go."
The question is this, why did Jesus Christ pray to god?
It is stated in John 5:30 that Jesus Christ declared:
“I can do nothing on My own initiative As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.”
Therefore, even if Jesus did miracles, it is all because he was made an instrument of God to do those things. Let’s read acts 2:22 to support this:
“Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know--”
It is therefore that "Jesus' miracles" DOES NOT TESTIFY THAT HE IS GOD.
The best evidence that the Son is God is not about the miracles that he performs. The best evidence is his nature being God. In his nature God, the Son is Almighty, Omniscient, Omnipresent, Holy and Eternal.
ReplyDeleteThe Son is truly human... not God.
ReplyDeleteThe Son is truly God and truly Human.
DeleteTo say that the Son is only truly Human is only half of the truth.
Half of the truth is still a lie.
what you are saying Jeffrey is the one called a lie. The son is never truly God as Jesus said "And this is eternal life, that they may know YOU, THE ONLY TRUE GOD, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." John 17:3 He didn't say they may know US, and when you say ONLY there is no other, and that's the truth
