Iglesia ni Cristo's World Wide Walk broke two world records!
Iglesia ni Cristo's World Wide Walk broke two world records namely "Largest Charity Walk in a single event" with 175, 409 participants vs. Singapore's 77,500 participants and "Largest charitable walk in 24 hours (multiple venue)" with 519,521 participants in 135 sites vs. Canada's 231,635 participants in 1,011 sites.
Kristy Bennet, Guinness' representative said:
“I cannot stress enough the commitment, organization, and passion required to achieve a record of this magnitude. Like all records set by Guinness World Record, there are extremely strict criteria and guidelines that need to be followed. That is why when a title like this is given, it is a huge achievement.”
The purpose of the event is to raise funds for the typhoon Yolanda victims, for the continuing support from the church and for the world's awareness for the Yolanda survivors, because there are still millions of Filipinos who needs help.
But behind these world records, the most important thing is the attention for the needy, to help them rebuild their lives.
