Iglesia ni Cristo singing for smiles
Members of Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC), or Church of Christ, are joining forces "to put smiles on the faces of senior citizens across the globe" through an initiative of the INCgiving Project, an international effort to "Share the Gift of Music."
Performers from the young to the young-at-heart will visit assisted living and skilled nursing homes throughout the U.S., Canada and Australia. More than 31 congregations and extensions across the Hawaiian and Pacific Islands, alone, will participate.
"Through INCGiving initiatives such as this one, we hope to help in making local communities a happier place for all residents, especially the elderly," said Rod Bruno, INC Hawaii-Pacific district minister.
The local congregations of Keaau and Hokokaa will "Share the Gift of Music" at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Life Care Center of Hilo at 944 West Kawailani St.
The INCgiving Project works to help families and communities succeed by joining the efforts of local community partners, leveraging the skills and expertise of church members to implement positive solutions for the basic needs of their neighbors. Visit www.incmedia.org.

Iglesia ni Cristo 'Philippine Arena' should be commended-lawmaker
ANGELES CITY - Representative Carmelo “Tarza” Lazatin has filed a resolution congratulating and commending Brother Eduardo Manalo and the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) for bringing honor and pride to the country through the establishment of the Philippine Arena, the biggest dome of its kind in the world.
Lazatin, in his House Resolution No. 1766, said the INC, through its Executive Minister Brother Eduardo Manalo, has put the world’s attention to the Philippines once again through its milestone project – the Philippine Arena.
The Philippine Arena, whose groundbreaking was held on August 17, 2011, in Bocaue, Bulacan, will be the biggest indoor dome in the world, with a seating capacity of 50,000 to 70,000 people and an area of 74,000 square meters.
Lazatin said the Philippine Arena, in terms of magnitude, could be put in line with the Burj Al-Khalifa and Burj Al-Arab of Dubai, the Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia, the Taiwan 101 in Taipei, Taiwan and other architectural wonders in the world.
“Through the Philippine Arena and all the engineering and architectural marvels that go with it, the country will become an appealing site for business and tourism, helping the economy returns to its glory days,” Lazatin said.
The lawmaker also said the Philippine Arena will be a major source of pride and inspiration to more than 90 million Filipinos who desperately need uplifting and motivation during these trying times.
For almost a century now, Lazatin said the INC serves as a major spiritual and moral compass in the Philippines, imparting to millions of Filipinos teachings from the Word of God. (Reynaldo G. Navales)
